While it has some bad moments, this record also have some of the best moments from their discography. The production is pretty bad and the harsh vocals are embarassing at times, but the instrumental is top notch almost everywhere on this one.

Exactly. This album has some of the band's best riffs and hooks but the production and vocals leave a lot to be desired... I'd love to hear a re-record.

Jesus, I downloaded FLAC files for this and it's basically unlistenable haha...they uploaded Core, maybe they'll release a remaster for this too, the parts I can actually make out are good.

This is a truly piece of good melodic death of nowadays, here we have a bunch of slow songs and also we have lots of fast and stunning ones. Usage of japaneese thematics and their national instruments is really freakin' awesome.

@ Gloomypariah Interesting, I consider Core their most progressive. Maybe Shin Ken seems more progressive to you because of the ethnic instruments.

Outstanding vocals. I wish more bands would do this sort of high pitched stuff. I love it.

Agree the album art is stunning. All adds to the oriental feel the band was going for with the album. Quality release.
