Not constrained by previous success, Phoenix Legend's new album is a slight break away from their recognizable sound.
"It is the folk-pop style which makes us stand out and most people get the impression that Ling Hua is responsible for the folk part while I am responsible for rap part. Actually we can manage more kinds of music than they think and through this album we want this information to be conveyed," Zeng Yi explained.
Cool Folk Songs covers a variety of styles with ballads, dance music and rock all making an appearance. Love songs, seldom heard on their previous albums, are part of the current release. Ling Hua also turns her hand to rap in All Is Love.
"People think that I am just a folk singer. Actually I can sing different kinds of songs. I don't want to categorize myself and if I believe I can sing the song well, I will sing it, no matter if it is a folk song or a pop song," Ling Hua told the Global Times.
