wow Filial doesn't even crack the top 10 on these charts, that song used to be the crowd favorite. funny how the times change

Depending on how you filter it, it's still there. It's really nice to see a mixture of all 5 records, depending on how you filter too.

And in that case not innovating is a good thing imo. So many average innovations. doing new songs in the same style without copying themselves too much is a nice feature

So, I think I wrote this comment a little excited because Pianos delivered a solid album in their own thing, without it being so so like some other albums that dropped at that moment, so.... hahahaha but i can completely see your point, and it is probably because you wanted to see something different from them just to enjoy even more and to be fair, today I would say the exact same as you.

I was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I have been [so far], especially since WFL didn't resonate with me all too much.

Starting my way through Drift now. The instant Keep You hit me it was an instant favorite and I even played shows with them before the change so I was used to the screamo band, but Keep You felt like such a natural progression that it didnt really surprise me at all. Agree that WFL is pretty uneven. Interested to see how I feel about Drift here in the next month.

how are you digging it so far? I started following them when Hiding came out, so I did enjoy Keep You but then their previous stuff just started hitting harder with me. btw, in what band do/did you play?

A lot more than I thought I was going to. I think the singles they released are my least favorite songs on the album so that's why I was a bit on the fence to start. Overall, this album feels a lot more focused and cohesive than WFL. Easy, The Days, and Pair are absolutely sublime. I played in this band: https://ariadnesthread.bandcamp.com and booked them here in MI way back in like 2008 maybe? I even let PBTT crash in my apartment after the show as they had nowhere else to stay.

loved this band since forever and thought that The Lack and Keep You was their peak. Wait For Love had some great tracks but overall wasn't as strong of an album. So far, I haven't really enjoyed any of the 3 singles released for Drift so not sure what to expect. I still think Creatures Of Habit is their best song though.

Interesting, personally WFL has been my fave to date. To each their own though.

The Lack Long After is one of the few albums that has resonated with me through my youth into becoming independent. The tortured vocals are cathartic, and often times bring me to angry/empty cry. Reminiscing of losing my teenage years to anxiety and depression. Helps remind me that even though life might be empty, and feel pointless at times, I am here by will. I have the choice to end this, but I continue on with life because I cannot let my failures define me.

My father passed three weeks after I wrote this and words cannot express how much this album means to me now. Saved me from blowing my brains out. The lyrics just make me fucking scream. It all hurts so much. Thank you Kyle, for saving my life. My father was my best friend, my closest confidant, my role model, and the greatest father I could ask for. I watched him wither away to cancer over 8 years, and just as soon as it was getting better, it ended. Knowing the pain of just listening to this, I cannot believe the hell that Kyle went through to put his heart and soul into it.

Смена стиля после The Lack Long After и акцент в сторону большей мелодичности пошел группе на пользу. Главное, не увязнуть в этом, а то уже намечается некоторая тенденция на однообразие в последних релизах.

"Love comes in and out of our lives and we have very little control over it. It takes advantage of you, and you take advantage of it. It’s breathing and living… It’s never being as good as you were when you stole her heart. It’s dying once and then again when everyone forgets about you. It’s on repeat." Not strictly about anybody's son. Much more general than that

As much as I can appreciate a band changing it up and trying something different i'm sad that we probably won't see them do anything akin to Old Pride or The Lack Long After again.

Incredible album, I didn't really liked Keep You, but I think that they found a great balance with this one.

Why does the new album not appear on last fm? It's as if it hasn't been scrobbled at all.

Wait For Love is really nice, Bay of Dreams and Blue are probably the two songs that have stuck with me the most so far but I'm only on my second listen.
