Biography
Pill Zombie (now Phonics) was created by guitarist Ryan Barton and drummer Nick Inco (originally keyboards) of the band Tales of Paul Bunyan after it's disbanding in the fall of 2009. during a shaky period of trying to accommodate finding a new drummer, nick began intensely focusing on his drumming practice, which came about by a TOPB fill in trying out for drums and leaving them set up in nicks room. After quickly adapting his musical output to drums, Ryan suggested to him a new project entirely. assuming the name "pill zombie" (a testimonial to nicks practice sessions in the hours after school while his ADD meds we're still in effect), with the original intent of being a two peice experimental grind outfit, the duo's sound quickly evolved into an anthology of musical experimentation that was written in a collaborative method of instrumental song writing. During the first months the ideas were conceived in some early amateur demo recordings with sounds of math/thrash/noise rock. over the preceding few months, the band worked on more refined material and changed the name to "Phonics" for a split release with the local band "Grady Stiles". After the reformation of Tales of Paul Bunyan in December 2010 (soon after the phonics versus grady stiles split was released), focus on the continuation of Phonics became less intense and the group is as of now still on hiatus until further notice.
