Biography
Place Hands is a 4-piece emo/indie/post-hardcore band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Inscribed in Glass is the first release by Place Hands. The album's eight tracks offer listeners moments of both layered, calculated chaos and intimate simplicity. Brandon Valdivia's maximalist approach to the drums is balanced by Scott Ballem's driving, focused bass-lines. Heidi Hazelton and Lee Sheppard contribute persistent and memorable guitar melodies while their vocals evoke strong feelings of both angst and hope. The carefully honed lyrics cover topics from construction of the Canadian railroad to youth violence, gardens to killer bees. Inscribed in Glass captures the sound and energy of the inspired live performances familiar to the band's devoted followers. While each member of the group draws inspiration from a variety of musical sources, Place Hands' collaboration is in the Punk tradition of bands like Fugazi, Blonde Redhead, and Southern Ontario bands like Shotmaker and Rockets Red Glare.
