Biography
Princess Riot is an edgy foursome from Whitby, Ontario that have been pushing as far as their music will take them since 2003. The quartet consists of Lindsay Matheson (lead vocals, bass, song writing), Valerie Knox (vocals, guitar, song writing), Julie Nolan (guitar, backing vocals) and Darcy Fletcher (drums). Mostly classified as a pop-punk/rock band, they refuse to limit themselves musically and are influenced by a wide-range of genres and artists. Their eclectic tastes and distinct personalities shine through each ndividualistic and energetic song they create. They are very eager and willing to tackle almost any genre, and excel at writing catchy melodies, edgy punk-rock anthems in addition to humorous jaunts and hauntingly deep ballads.
Being a somewhat new band from Durham Region (just east of Toronto), they have amassed quite a list of achievements so far. They had the chance to play Vans Warped Tour for two years in a row, first on the Shira Girl stage in 2005 and on the My Space stage in 2006, they have been officiated as Daisy Rock Artists and producer Joel Kazmi of Eleven Hurts Music (Sum41, Hedley, The Tea Party) has since taken an interest in them. With Joel, they've created a new professionally produced three-song demo that is currently on sale now. Most recently they were considered for a grant from FACTOR, the Canadian federal government subsidy to create a full-length album!
From Cleveland, Ohio to Quebec City, Montreal, and all of Ontario, the successful touring never stops. Princess Riot will continue to work hard
and honestly to put on the best show, each and every time they play and to break through the independent scene. With faith, drive, and passion, anything can be accomplished. These are definitely qualities that radiate from the musicians of Princess Riot.
