Biography
There are at least 2 artists under same name: 1) a Norway group formed in 1999, 2) a Japanese music unit formed in 2022.
1) Queendom offers spectacular live concerts with a concious and positive message. Through energetic music, slam-poetry and strong vocal harmonies, this performing arts collective aims at entertaining audiences in in a humourous and intelligent way. Queendom has developed a unique sound based on their musical heritage - from blues and soul, to highlife, reggae, afrobeat and slam poetry.
Queendom was established in 1999, and as an all black, all female performing arts collective, it is still unique in Norway. The members are professional singers, songwriters, actors and writers.Queendom is based in Oslo, Norway and draws on the talent and experience of three performing artists with backgrounds from Ethiopia, Nigeria and Uganda.
WHY
Queendom aims to create both socially aware and entertaining performances. Presenting original material, they touch on themes relevant to their everyday lives, such as racism, identity, womens issues - as well as universal issues of friendship and love. Queendom is both thought-provoking and fun! Using political satire as their trademark, the group has suceeded in creating public debate and making Scandinavian audiences both think, feel and dance - truly a mind, soul and body experience.
WHAT
Queendom came to the attention of the Norwegian public in 1999 after the premiere of the cabaret 'Queendom On The Rocks- the world seen through the eys of five Black women'. Since then Queendom has produced another two comedy shows, a satirical book, a TV mini-series and continues to compose new, inspiring music.
The queens have warmed up for American soul legend Al Green at the Norwegian Opera. In 2007 they performed at the Oslo World Music Festival with the respected and versatile South- African guitarist Louis Mhlanga. Since then they have toured all over Norway with their band.
WHERE?
Queendom now tours and performs extensively as a world music band, around Norway and abroad. They have performed at numerous events hosted by commercial companies, festivals, state institutions and NGO's. Audiences include several Nobel Peace Prize laureates, ministers, ambassadors and members of the Norwegian royal family - as well as ordinary people of all ethnic backgrounds.

2) special music unit QUEENDOM was formed in 2022. in Japan, Music unit is consisting of hibiki and moca from lol, Akina and Taki from FAKY, and Maria Kaneya from GENIC. They released their first single named チキチキバンバン (Chikichiki Banban) on May 2022, digitally, as a cover song of “Bulikirály” nicknamed also as ''Chiki Ciki Bam Bam'', sung by Hungarian artist Jolly és Suzy released in 2013.
