Rachel Koblyakov

Violinist Rachel Koblyakov, of American-Israeli origin, performs regularly as both soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and abroad, appearing in various halls, among which have included Printemps des Arts Festival of Monte-Carlo, Monaco, the ElbPhilharmonie Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris, Lucerne Festival and various stages in New York and the US.

At age 12 she gave her solo debut with the Central Illinois Youth Orchestra, and has since performed as soloist with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France under the baton of Pierre-Andrè Valade, Hof Symphony, Aeon Ensemble New York, and Ukho Ensemble Kyiv under Luigi Gaggero, among others.

An avid supporter of the music of today, she has had the fortune to work closely with a number of composers, including Wolfgang Rihm, Matthias Pintscher, Stefano Gervasoni and Samuel Andreyev, and as guest with various new music ensembles, including Ensemble Modern and Ensemble Intercontemporain.
As soloist and first violinist of the Ukho Ensemble Kyiv she has given countless premieres of works by various composers, and has recorded 4 CDs: music by Stefano Gervasoni for Winter & Winter, chamber ensemble works of Toshio Hosakawa for Kairos, Alessandro Solbiati for EMI Vinci, and Samuel Andreyev for Kairos.

She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The Juilliard School of Music, New York, where she was a full scholarship student of Ronald Copes. Since then she has received an Artist Diploma in contemporary music from the Conservatoire Supérieur National de Musique de Paris with scholarships from Fondation Or du Rhin and Fondation Tarazzi, and has studied on full scholarship with Igor Volochine at the Ecole Normale de Musique - Salle Cortot. Her work as academist and member of the Alumni Young Performer’s Ensemble of Lucerne Festival has given her the opportunity to perform on a number of projects, including work with Barbara Hannigan, Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Chailly, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, and choreographer Massimo Gerardi.

Passionate about collaboration between the arts, she has curated and performed various programs, including for the New York-based Aeon Ensemble, as well as work with visual artists Alex Cecchetti and Rainer Ganahl. On the front of musical education, she is co-founder and performer in the upcoming musical show “Tubalirum” for the young audience series in conjuction with the Barenboim-Said Academy at Boulez Saal, Berlin.

She can be heard in duo-collaboration with pianist Orlando Bass on a CD for Triton. Her upcoming solo debut CD is due for release by Orpheus Classical in 2021.
