cheguei até aqui através da abertura de monk e descubro que é o mesmo compositor da trilha sonora de toy story 🤯

Dickington
Criminally underrated especially as an emotional songwriter--"Old Man," "Baltimore," "Wandering Boy," "When She Loved Me"--these are all powerful tearjerkers.

Just love that guy! Amazing songwriter, with great sense of humor, a bit of grotesque and whole bunch of fineness. Love his work!

Sail Away atm, I know predictable, need to really get into his others fully, I like lots of random songs from other albums though. I really like 12 Songs too.

thanks, I've heard great things about that album and have actually had a listen some time back, I'll invest more time soon. His voice is so distinctive, love it.

Dark Matter's excellent, picking up exactly where Harps and Angels left off. Kind of crazy that it was a 9 year wait, but I guess it feels shorter with the Songbooks and soundtrack work in between.

Great track-by-track interview with him over at Pitchfork, including his input on "Uncle John Misty" (hell yeah): http://pitchfork.com/features/song-by-song/randy-newman-explains-every-song-on-his-new-album-dark-matter/

Cars 3 is good, but I wonder what it would have been with Giacchino back for the score.

The Songbook vol. 3 album cover with the bike brings joy to my heart. There's a lot of songs I was hoping would get the Songbook treatment on here.

Never thought I'd say this, but…Harps and Angels is my favorite album of his through and through. Not his most underrated or overlooked, his best. It's the most "him." The politics and satire is as pointed as ever (if not moreso), but it's coupled with this laid-back cheeriness that's very infectious—and most importantly, solid songs.

I hope you'll check out my version of Randy's brilliant song, Feels Like Home. It's produced by Gary Katz of Steely Dan renown. I hope you like it, I feel honored to have recorded it. www.facebook.com/frankshinermusic

No, it's because they think that the song has so much attention that it draws away from the rest of the artist's work. There's nothing especially edgy about thinking Randy Newman's an incredible songwriter and being sad that so few people venture beyond his most popular song.

“What I wanted, more than money or sales or fame, was praise, and now that I've got it, it seems I'm worried that I won't get it again.” - In 1974, Randy Newman was on the brink of quitting the music industry and returning to his 9 to 5. That same year, Newman revealed all of his songwriting demons in an exhilarating one hour confessional with Bruce Pollock: http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/randy_newman/

It's hard to believe the same guy that wrote "Rednecks" did so many Disney soundtracks. Regardless, the man's a genius. One of the only artists that can make me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
