Biography

Rashni Banda Khan, also known as „Rashni“, is the absolute shooting-star of the Bollywood scene. It is difficult to describe him accurately. You have to see him: this protruding chin, the silly facial expression, the provoking gestures, this dirty laugh – magnificent! great! unbelievable!

Born in Calcutta in 1970, Rashni Banda Khans career began on the most demanding theatre stages in the city of his birth. Through his relocation to Mumbai he changed his profession from theatre- to film-actor and had his first breakthrough in the TV series „Danger Man“. This success brought in one job offer after another and his first starring role in a full length film „Sometimes it hurts“ brought him at first go the „Best Film Debut Award“.

Also in his second starring role in „Toothless through Mumbai“ he shone with an impressive performance as a poor taxi driver, who moves from the country to the big city, searching for a better life. Encouraged by this early popularity, Rashni Banda Khan took a risk in his following films. He let himself be cast as a bad guy, and in films such as „Ünbelievably Mean“ or „Dangerous Bad Breath“ he created a type of antihero, never before seen in the Indian cinema, and he was rewarded in 1998 with the „Best Bad Boy Award“.

His second great passion is doubtless music. It started with the electric guitar, with which he earned his first money as a young boy, as street musician and imitator of Diana Ross. In a recording studio he made his first demo-tape. This is how he gets to know Nandita, the rapper girl, in whose song „Take me, I’m yours“, Rashni Banda Khan sings backing. „I thought she was nice, and then people said: Would you like to start a solo career as a singer? So that’s what I did.“

And now it has happened – his first single „Baboushka“ has been released! This song is about sex and love, money, cars and clothes – preferably his own fashion label „Only Bee“. „Baboushka“ turns out to be a catchy pop song and sets a high standard from the beginning. The contents of the text are based on his last film, „Rashni in Moscow“ and tells an exciting spy story. The acting performance in the clip underlines „Rashni’s“ great talent. He excels with daredevil stunts, which are not done by a double! And so he begins to saw at DJ Bobo’s throne.

Now it is time to conquer Europe and the rest of the world – an end of his fame is not in sight. Long live „Rashni“.
