Raven Dark is the solo project of Ulv Gegner Irminsson (Full name Evgeny Elmanov, 1975-2005) and part of the Russian Black Metal circle "Blazebirth Hall". The project uses session recordings for the all other instruments and vocal performances not done by Ulv himself.
In 2000 Ulv changed the name of the project to Wotan Sølv, which was claimed to be the result of an "Alchemical Purification of the Original Raven Dark". The material created under this new title would go unreleased until 2016, when it was semi-unofficially given a CD release from Ragnarok Records. The band then had its' name changed again to Asagott sometime later.
Ulv was also a frequent collaborator with other Blazebirth Hall bands, namely Vargleide and Forest and also formed a band outside the circle known as Velimor.
On the night of October 23rd 2005 Ulv Gegner Irminsson was stabbed to death by his alleged friend Sergey Odokienko during a drunken quarrel that occured in Odokienko's apartment in Tula, Russia. To honour his memory, the label Stellar Winter Records released two demo compilations featuring unheard material, as well as the previously unreleased Raven Dark full-length "Autumn Roar" . It was also planned that the unreleased, sole full-length release under the band's third title, Asagott, would be released as well, however at the time of writing this it has not seen the light of day.
