Biography
Red Band is an israeli puppet rock band. The band consists 3 puppets operated by 3 musicians, Ari Pepper, Ami Vizzel and Micha Domman. In their shows, the puppets are shown singing and playing, as a natural part of the play, while their operators are singing and moving their mouths while playing through the puppets.
The band started in 2005 with the name "The Puppet Folk Revival" mostly playing in the streets and clubs of Tel Aviv.
In summer 2008 the band changed its name to "Red Band" and starred a self-titled TV comedy mockumentary series about their fictitious reunion, usually collaborating with other famous israeli singers.
Every one of the puppets has its own name and character, mostly expressed trough the TV show.
Red Orbach-Leader of the band, the puppet with the purple hair. born in the United States, talks and sings in english. Red has the character of an old rock star, that was famous in the 60's, and is currently having a hard time understanding the social reality, musical culture and technology. He swears a lot, shown as an egocentric type of guy, and most of his interests are sex, drugs and rockn'roll.
Poncho-a tough guitarist, a lone wolf. likes motorycles. Trying to avoid any unnecessary Irresponsible events that happend to him in the past.
Lefty-The Keyboarder in the band. He is also an old rock band member, that experienced a major change in his life, and now believes in peace and freedom, making him an old friendly hippy.
