Biography
Relicon was founded in 1998 by Antti-Pekka Meronen, after his previous band fell apart, because all members went their separate ways looking for jobs or to study. At this point Relicon was Antti-Pekka's solo project, Antti-Pekka wrote all the music and played all the instrument by himself. Between 1998-2002 Relicon recorded dozens of hours of unreleased material.
In 2002, after four years of intense practice and devotion in songwriting, Antti-Pekka decided the time was right to release Relicon's first proper demo "The Darkness Project". All the instruments on this demo where played by Antti-Pekka, except the drums, which were recorded using a computer. The vocals on this demo were very shy, as Antti-Pekka felt very insecure about his voice. Still Antti-Pekka's voice gave a very unique touch to the release. In December 2003 Relicon released the second demo "Inanimate". Antti-Pekka spent the whole year writing material for this release. It received very controversal reviews, others praised it, where others disliked it. Antti-Pekka decided to ignore the controversy and continue making music the way he thought was best. After the release of "Inanimate", Antti-Pekka began writing material for a new demo, the process took almost two years. Just as the next demo was taking shape and was about to be released, the recording process was halted as Antti-Pekka found four other musicians, and Relicon expanded into a five-piece band. The new Relicon line-up began practicing intensly, and compiled a live-set combining new songs and Antti-Pekka's older Relicon material. They also re-recorded the incomplete Relicon demo. This is the latest release by Relicon.
