Biography

1975 - 1992
René, alias DJ Zki, and Gaston, alias Dobre, are from the city of Haarlem. They both start their careers working as DJ's in various local clubs and discotheques.

1992 - 1994
René (1961) and Gaston (1972) meet in 1992 when René works as a radio DJ and Gaston Steenkist is still a student. They start working together and record the track Give It Up, which was originally meant as a B-side track, but turned out to be a worldwide hit record. UK band Simply Red later used a sample of the track for their chart-topping hit Fairground. René and Gaston record several albums together and also start the Fresh Fruit label. Over the years they record tracks under various names like, Tomba Vira, The Good Men, Collin Bros, Con-Am, F-Action, Fresh Tunes, Mackino, Mechanical Soul Saloon, Mpari, Stainless, Klatsch!, Basco, Jark Prongo and Chocolate Puma.

1995 - 1999
René and Gaston start a new label called Pssst Music op. 1999 sees the last release of a René et Gaston 12": Soiree Dansante
