Biography
Guitarist and composer Richard Viard was born near Paris France where he studied classical guitar and percussion since age 9. After forming several bands during high school, his band ‘Desirs’ performed at all the famous clubs of the time such as Golf Drouot and Rose Bonbon.
Richard moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music in 1983 and joined local band ‘Touch Memory’ led by singer/songwriter Pamela Ruby Russell and later ‘Montage’, a Funk/R&B band led by Jeannie Daniels. After school, Richard composed music for commercials and film for clients such as Ford, Lotus, and Digital Equipment Corp, including the Telly Award winning video “Filmworks”.
Richard’s music is influenced by his love for various genres of music including Jazz, Fusion, Funk, Brazilian, and African music.
In 87, Richard joined Dr.T’s Music software, one of the pioneers in MIDI software, and later founded several software companies will longtime friend Jeff Pucci, including Virtual Entertainment, SmarterKids.com (NASDAQ: SKDS), and more recently Nextcat.com.
