Biography
Richie Loidl, born 1967, comes from Bad Ischl, in the Wolfgangsee area of the Salzkammergut region, Austria, where he became classical piano lessons from age 8 to 14, with very negative results. Primarily in 1986, at age 18, he learned to really play the piano, during a graduation summer course as bartender at the Hotel Schloss Seefels on the Woerthersee. He developed a passion for boogie-woogie and blues piano, inspired by the styles of Axel Zwingenberger and Vince Weber. During his social sciences / management studies in Innsbruck, Richie was abundantly "shakin' up" the night-life scene of the city, and it did not take long for him to become known as the "Boogie Man". This resulted in a great number or performances at home and abroad.
His repertoire consists not only of moving boogie woogie and earthy blues, but of popular Broadway standards, discreet bar music, and the pop-songs that everyone likes to hear. The performances are conceived completely upon the theme of the venue, whereby Richie creates a good mood not only on piano, but on vocals as well. Besides concerts and international festivals, the venues include company events, private parties or performances in the bars of finer hotels.
Since 1986, Richie Loidl has developed a mostly self-taught individual style, linked to the feedback from his audience. With the sensitive involvement of the complete periphery of the respective venue, such as architecture, decor, lighting, gastronomy, society, instrument, acoustics, PA system etc., he constantly succeeds in creating a typical atmosphere of joy, pleasure, entertainment, and devotional gratification to the beautiful things of life.
The highlights of his career to date were large boogie festivals in France (Paris, Normandy, Auvergne, Lyon, Cote d‘Azur, Beaune), Germany ( Hamburg, Munich, Rust/Europapark, Tiengen, Baden-Baden, Travemunde), and Switzerlad ( Lugano), as well as numerous performances throughout Italy, Spain, Canada, Bahrain, and naturally, in all of Austria. There exists a successful long standing business relationship with several enterprises. He has been on stage with Axel Zwingenberger, Vince Weber, Joja Wendt, Martin Schmitt, Jo Bohnsack, Gottfried Boettcher, Christian Willisohn, Sylvan Zingg, the Mojo Bluesband, Martin Pyrker, J.P. Bertrand, J.P. Amouroux, Fabrice Eulry, Little Willie Littlefield, Bob Seeley, Anke Angel, Wendy de Witt, Rudy "Blueshoes" Wyatt, Steve "Big Man" Clayton, Christian Christl, Stephano Franco, Lluis Coloma, Dominik Heins, Daniel Eckbauer and many other stars of the gender.
Since 1995, Richie, together with his befriended key-colleagues Clemens Vogler, Markus Brandl and Johnny Schütten, has been organizing the yearly "Shake the Lake Boogie‘n‘ Blues Festival" at the Wolfgangsee, which meanwhile counts as one of the largest European boogie festivals. There, the lifestyle "'round about the piano" and "'round about the lake" is unique.
Richie is continually "shakin'" in duo with Clemens Vogler ( "Shake the Lake Boogie Woogie Session on Two Pianos" ) and / or with band including drums, bass, blues-harp, up to large festival formations.
Richie's motto: Simply live! Let the good times roll! Keep shakin'!
