MISTURA perform an exhilarating blend of hot Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and Afro-funk rhythms with cool contemporary jazz.
Led by the vibrant and versatile flautist, composer and arranger Rowland Sutherland, the group explore a wide and exciting range of Brazilian styles from samba, batucada, bossa and baiao to various African, salsa and other Latin dance rhythms which explains the name MISTURA, (“mixture” - Brazilian Portuguese).
Mistura have been exciting audiences and receiving rave reviews at many music events and festivals both in the UK and Europe.
The band members have played with such international artists and groups as: Airto, Dom Um Romao, Olodum, Joyce, Flora Purim and Manu Dibango.
Rowland was voted #1 flute player by Brazilian newspaper Tribuna da Imprensa (“Press Tribune”) and it’s 24th Annual Poll.
