Within the forward family of French dreamy nursery-rhyme makers, there already were Colleen and her elliptical miniatures, Don Nino and his pastoral folk music. Now, please welcome Rrose Tacet, a bunch of pretty eccentric Parisians ! Driven by unquestionably bold inspiration, and owing their enigmatic name to Marcel Duchamp and to the vocabulary of avant-garde music, this iconoclastic duet has no rival when it's a matter of remodelling minimalist folk music with the help of a few falsely naive guitar chords and of a travelling bag full of dislocated curios (toy piano, melodica, toy drums). If you feel enraptured by the art of Yo la tengo and Nick Drake, then Rrose tacet's illuminated miniature symphonies are for you. With only a cheap drum machine and a handful of warm chords, they can create compositions that are rolling in riches, that are as sweet as the stroke of a loving mom, as bewitching as an improbable and motionless trip on a balloon. All in all, here is chamber music for big spaces.
