Biography

The Rumpke Mountain Boys have been spreading their unique genre of music called “trashgrass” since 2003. The label, and the band’s name, are homage to the Rumpke Mound, a landfill famous for being the highest geographical point in Hamilton County, near their hometown on Cincinnati.
A fully acoustic string quartet, the band features Jason Wolf on banjo, Ben Gourley on Mandolin, Adam Copeland on guitar, and newest member J.D. Westmoreland on bass. All four share the songwriting and vocals, and each brings a unique set of influences to the group, creating a sound that is at once modern and relevant as well as traditional.
The Rumpke Mountain Boys have garnered high praise for their performances, winning Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for 7 years running. The have gained a legion of loyal fans and are now breaking through to an even wider audience with appearances at many larger festivals.
