Biography

Solo 5 was a Mexican pop band formed by Anais, Mar, Judith, Josué and Ángel back in 2002. They all met when participating at the Mexican version of Operación Triunfo. Despite none of them won, they decided to star a pop and together and that's how the band was born.
This debut album, "Más y Más" was released in 2003, it contained the hit single, "Más y Más" which became a popular song at the clubs and on the radio and the second single, "Arroja las Palabras" failed to make an impact on radio, although it managed to gather a few dozen of spins during the first 3 weeks of radio impact, it never went for adds on Mexican Top 40 radio, after "Más y Màs" having gone for Adds a few months prior, but without good Audience Impressions points. The song was quickly taken off the Light Rotation by a couple of National Radio Stations that did spin the song at key times during the day, even then audience impressions % were enough for programmers to kill the 'going for adds' campaign, the debut single never officially Impacted Top 40 Radio outside of a couple of weeks that had the song spins around the 30-10 plays per week. "Arroja las Palabras" was played even less… And Going for Adds was abandoned even quicker, than the title track, at this point the album having been out at least 3 months, the group doing promotional Autograph-Signing appearances on Poorly attended restaurant pop outs, and the audience getting in line to get their autograph would only do so on the promotional posters that they would steal off the restaurant walla, basically taking the flying Poster for the Event off the walls, and would get in line to get those Flyers Autographed. Even though the group would have their CD for sale on every promotional stop, and they would bring CD copies to be sold in case the local stores did not have their CD in stock, to make it available for fans. During the whole Promotional Tour across Mexico, Sólo 5 only sold sólo 5 copies of their CD. Televisa losing the Singing Reality Competition duel, started 2 months ahead of time. The first TV show announced was Televisa 's Operación Triunfo, created by endemol. The Spanish counterpart had already ended at that point, and had been a smash success; with every single one of the contestants signing with Major Labels with each and every one of them attaining multiple album deals, with the few most notorious and lucrative of them all, with an optional clause for the artists to choose an international distribution of their liking outside the domestic Label handling all distribution in Spain. This was unheard of in Spain's music business. It shows the immediate beneficial impact the TV Reality Show brought on almost immediately to Spain's music industry showing financial gain and overall growth and profitability of every single one of the Spanish participants in Operación Triunfo. Even the first alumni kicked off out of the house, immediately signed a Multiple Album Deal with guaranteed promotional budget that hadn't been seen in Spain for a long time. The last time Spain had seen inmense budgets for a single album cycle, had been Enrique y Ana's 1982's hyper-hyped children's album "∆libombombonbombe₹a.
