Biography

Skin Tag is an exciting band made up of 5 very talented and seasoned musicians from the New Jersey rock scene. Handling vocal duties is none other than Jimmy Lawrence, best known for his solo album "The World Is Round" which gained nothing but great reviews and critics everywhere in the melodic rock world.

He teamed up in may 2000 with keyboard wiz Charlie Calv, renowned for his work in Shotgun Symphony, Message and Melodica. Soon after they were joined in the studio by Charlie's band mate in Shotgun Symphony, drummer Ron Sivulich Jr. The guys soon started to produce demos of the songs that Jimmy had co-written with some of the most talented North American rock writers, such as Robert White Johnson (Cheap Trick, Celine Dion, Lynyrd Skynyrd), Bill Cuomo (Steve Perry, Kim Carnes), Danny Tate , Carl Dixon (Coney Hatch), Stan Meissner, Randy Goodrum (Steve Perry, Toto, Chicago) and Glen Burtnick (Styx).

Those demos immediately raised the interest of Mark Ashton of Now & Then Productions who signed the band for a two album deal in January 2001. In the meanwhile the line up was completed with the addition of John Bongiovanni (Joe Lynn Turner, Arcara) on bass and Dave Tsien (Shoot The Doctor) on guitars and the band started recording the debut album at Sound Spa Studios (home of the last two Shotgun Symphony records) with engineer Stephen DeAcutis (Prophet, Corey Glover, Shotgun Symphony, etc…) in February 2001. The band later moved to Soul Grind Studios, with vocals recorded at Back Pocket Studios with Shane Keister engineering (Amy Grant, Celine Dion) with the mix finally finished in August 2001

The resultant album, "Beauty Mark", is a superb effort from a dedicated, solid band that unforturnately only produced this one CD.
