SNH48 is a Chinese Idol Group based in Shanghai, China. They are the third international sister group of AKB48 (after JKT48 and TPE48), but the second one to officially debut. They are the seventh sister group of AKB48, and the sixth to get an official debut. Like every 48 groups, SNH48 is theatre based and regularly performs at the SNH48 Theater, which is based in Shanghai. As of April 2016, SNH48 is no longer affiliated to the Japanese groups.
The 26 first generation members of SNH48 were announced on October 15 2012. Soon after that, AKB48 members Miyazawa Sae and Suzuki Mariya joined the group as a result of currently taking part in AKB48's overseas temporary transfer program. The second generation members were announced in August 2013, and formed team NII, whereas the first generation formed team SII.
On July 26th, 2014, during SNH48's first general election concert, the third generation members were introduced.
