Biography
During a time in Hip-Hop where the music is less of lyrical content and more of “TURN UP”, Samuel Shabazz’ music is said to be a perfect mixture of both. In his own words he states, “It’s not just hip hop music. It’s mostly hip hop culture inspired”. His music is REAL, not to be confused with the watered down meaning now used too frequently. Shabazz draws from his day-to-day life experiences and once in the booth, lyricizes those experiences through his extensive mental writing pad.
Samuel Shabazz was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He was first introduced to the music industry at 5 years old when his father, Uncle Sam, 90's R&B recording artist signed to Boyz II Men at the time, took him on tour alongside himself, Boyz II Men, Destiny’s Child, and Next. Samuel wrote his first rap song at age 8 and started recording music at age 12. By the time he was 13 years old, Shabazz had recorded an album’s worth of work and began performing at local high schools.
A year later Sam would move to Atlanta, Georgia where he would attend high school. At the age of 16, Sam along with his younger cousin and producer, Smoove G. Money, started their own recording label, Aura Recordings. Both Sam and Smoove would later attend Full Sail University where they would hone in on their musical crafts.
While attending Full Sail, Sam and Smoove created a network of producers, filmmakers, and graphic designers, some of which are now a part of Aura Recordings. In June 2013, months before graduating Full Sail, Shabazz started a clothing company called DopAR Clothing. Samuel Shabazz and Smoove are now both back in Atlanta where they continue to create music and sell clothing. DopAR clothing is creating a fan base across America, and Aura Recording is now responsible for over 11 albums and mixtapes.
