Biography
There are two known bands with the Sand Dollars name.
1. The Sand Dollars are a soul/funk US group who released tracks Get Thy Bearings on the Stones Throw label in 2003 and Waterloo Sunset.
2. Sand Dollars are a British band formed in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, United Kingdom in February 2007. The first line-up was Duncan Casey (vocals, drums, guitar), Lewis Andrews (vocals, guitar, drums), Ben Beach (bass) and Lee Pretlove (keys). They released two studio EPs; in 2007 Dependable Sociology, and the 2008 follow up Over and Over which was released for download in 2010. They also performed a live set on BBC Radio's Sue Marchant Show in May 2008.
After recording the four-track Over and Over EP in August 2008, the original line up split to pursue their own projects. Attempts were made in January 2009 to relaunch the band, with Adam Dean (lead guitar) and Phil Lee (drums) alongside Casey (now vocals, guitar) and Pretlove. No studio recordings were made and the attempted relaunch folded in June 2009.
Sand Dollars still continue songwriting and playing acoustic gigs.
