Sarah Jean is an Alternative, Singer/Songwriter from Melbourne, VIC, Australia.
Sarah Jean (Sarah Strachan) is a singer/songwriter/keyboardist with a love for a distorted, grungey sounding Hammond organ. She has an eclectic range of influences including video game music, classical music, hard rock, prog-rock, punk, folk-rock, post-punk and whatever is in between. Sarah is a story-teller and music teacher.
She has studied classical, jazz and popular music on piano and guitar, as well as songwriting and composition at Box Hill Institute and Australian Catholic University. With an interest in the effect of music on the mind, she holds a Bachelor of Arts(Psychology) degree with a minor in music.
Sarah has played keyboards in Made in Purple, the Australian Deep Purple Tribute band. She is also a singer and writes her own progressive rock songs and is hoping to release an album in 2014. She has also composed works for classical groups including string quartets and wind quintets.
As a music teacher, Sarah has worked from home privately for five years and has also worked at local primary schools including the Patch Primary School, Ferntree Gully North and Carrington Primary School.
