“First” is the eleventh track off of BLUE LIPS. This track deals with a person’s ego and letting go of people who aren’t bringing any positive to his/her life.
The first verse showcased the rapper at his most braggadocious on the entire album. To the point where it does get a tad egotistical, which might have been his intent.
The chorus signifies that even more with him claiming that he was the first one to do all of the things that he mentioned.
The second verse is a switch in terms of tone and also sonically. ScHoolboy Q then talks about how his ego is getting in the way and, instead, focuses on what’s most important. This makes him cut connections with other women. He also revealed that he did all these things he mentioned before this verse because he wanted to fill some sort of void and get rid of internal pain.
