Biography
Scáthanna is 2 piece gaelic folk project from the Irish county Down. It features classic Irish trad instruments like bodhrán and whistles, but the main themes are based on acoustic guitars. The first demo “Riders of the Sidhe” was released in 2007 when Scáthanna was origionally a solo project by frontman Mark McCormick (Marcus).
A new song was put online in 2010 called "Passion Earth". This is the latest material from Scáthanna and features the first ever vocals on a Scáthanna track from Aundria Hanna. www.myspace.com/scathannafolk for the new song.
"Scáthanna's music is a tribute to the Ancient Irish Lands and the Gaelic culture that is now merely a whisper upon the wind."
2010 Update!
On 31st January Scáthanna will be recording a short two-track demo to give a taste of the progress being made in our song writing.
These will be the first official Scáthanna songs to include vocals which are being performed by Aundria Hanna.
Song titles are 'Dark Spirit' and 'Voice of a Goddess Ghost'.
This material is quite different from the 2007 demo and sounds alot more like the song entitled 'fado' which can be listened to on the myspace page.
Hoping to have the songs on the myspace by mid-february. Will post on this space when they are up.
Marcus
