Biography
variations: Sedaye Marg | Seda E Marg
More than two years after its last full-length disc on Mechanoise Labs, Sedaye Marg returns with its first CD release titled "Frashogard", which literally means "renewal" in Zoroastrian lore.
Fusing its signature processed and distorted percussions with tape loops and strident electronics, "Frashogard" retains key aspects of the project's previous incarnations while incorporating its persian influences more visibly, as the focus shifts to the events in the last two decades which have shaped its inspirations and its existence. In sum, a soundtrack to military coups, rapid modernization, misguided faith, betrayals and ultimately rebirth.
While these references to Iranian history may prove obscure or unusual for the casual listener, they are the key to understanding what the essence of Sedaye Marg is, if one chooses to do so. An exigent approach which is quite in tune with the nature of the music.
