Biography
The band's beautiful, although exotic sounding name is giving cause for all kinds of speculations. Does it hint at some esoteric touch in their music or maybe the passion for the classical English sports car with the same name? Various thoughts come into mind, but might be abandoned even before they can fully form. “Neither of those”, reveals Peter Trebo the singer of the band . “The name was inspired by the colour yellow. Yellow, because that's my favorite colour, because it´s associated with the sun, and the sun is a sign for individuality. Although the Beatles had a yellow submarine and Coldplay……..“.
Sen Lotus is passionate, impulsive Indie pop with a touch of classical songwriting and beautiful, catchy melodies with influences and shades that can be traced to British, rather than American guitar music. Just imagine, Bernard Summer (New Order), Ross Millard (Futureheads) and Benni Thiel (Schrottgrenze) as well as Chris Urbanowicz (Editors) would form a band – they might sound like Sen Lotus.
Compared to their slightly innocent and rather mainstream oriented debut album “Sun”, the sound on “Street of Confidence” has become more heavy and rough. A tight rhythm section and the two distinct guitar sounds provide the right coloration for Peter's enthusiastic voice and his sometimes cryptic lyrics.
