Was listening to the album "My Dear" by Royal. Did some googling and found out that after Royal broke up, a couple of them wound up in Serena Maneesh. Sounds like Royal 2.0.

@onelittleatlas They only had released one proper album (the self-titled) before this one. Give it a listen; it is much less muddy and more lively in comparison, with more emphasis on repetitive rhythm and noticeably more discernible guitar melodies. Personally, it left me a bit tired by the end, but it's a great listen still.

It took me twice listens, yes. And now the tunes are pleasantly stuck in my head! By the way, it seems that the reviews from the press are very mixed so far (with none seemed to love it as much as I do, nor any extreme dislike ). But funnily, I tend to agree more with the observations from the less-enthused ones.

I hope Abyss is a grower...

new album is schizophrenic for sure, but really great. glad to see a band actually doing clever things with their studio budget...

I'm a big, big fan of the new album. In fact, it's so good that I found it hard to believe that I gave their previous work a fair shake. I can't imagine that they've made THIS huge of a leap, but it's totally possible. Also, Melody For Jaama is the best dream pop song I've heard in ages.

On the contrary, I actually of the opinion that overall the songwriting are stronger this time around. Or, the way I prefer them to be.

Best opening I've ever seen on an album in awhile man, pure bliss.

Also: i like this band more than MBV [2]
