Biography
According to Kurt Cobain, “Punk is musical freedom. It’s saying, doing, and playing whatever you want.” In this sense, Shadowbox Serenade is a punk band. The present line-up of friends comprising it started playing and writing together during the early years of the 21st century, having met by sharing the same high school and college together. Being essentially a hobby band, music was made for the sheer sake of it and not much sleep was lost over an audience or lack thereof. In 2007, a self-titled album was released. Other musicians are present in it too: Winsse Villanueva Cirujales' singing is heard in “Phantasmagoria” and “Sonic Drugs”; Arodasi, a pianist and composer, lent her talents on “Neurotica”; Mark Apas, another pianist and music teacher, collaborated on “Your Renaissance” and “Kanta Sa Kadulog”.
Currently the band is in an indefinite hiatus. Luis is taking a scholarship in Japan and Chester is currently finishing his Masterals in Manila.
