Biography
Shanna in a Dress (aka Shanna Hoar) started writing and performing folk music at the University of Virginia before moving to Boulder, Colorado where she was a regular at coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and other venues along the hip and ever popular Pearl Street scene. In May 2022, she released her debut studio record "Robot" after a successful crowdfunding campaign. Professionally produced, "Robot" highlights Shanna's intricate and introspective lyrics and songwriting ability, as well her vocals and acoustic guitar talent. Later that year she was named the winner of the 2022 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase competition, a particularly meaningful milestone in her young career.
Live, Shanna's performance are always unique, quirky, entertaining and often brutally honest, whether she is reminding her listeners not to lose track of their humanity in the eponymous track "Robot", relaying her mother's sage advice on how and where to look for love in Boomerang, or convincingly describing why taking out the garbage is sexy in "Mmm, That's Hot". Live or recorded, Shanna's lyrics will not just make you laugh but could teach you a thing or two about how to live life well.
A frequent performer at folk festivals and the like throughout the midwest, Shanna in a Dress is currently based out of Nashville.
