While most of She's previous albums came in trickles, almost all of Pioneer's tracks were available upon release in December of 2006. It had been more than a year since the official date of Digital Ambient Designs.

This album is perhaps She's most popular album, covering eight tracks averaging about 2 minutes in length. It's an evolution of the previous Chiptune Collection 1, being a hybrid of sorts. While the general theme of the album is chiptune in nature, all of the tracks have been mastered and produced in a manner more complex than what chiptune alone could offer. These are really busy songs.

As heard in Digital Ambient Designs, a female japanese voice can be heard in the first seconds of the albums track title "Pioneer" telling us to hold on before she puts in a tape and hits play, reinforcing the then-accepted assumption that the girl was "She." This has since been debunked.

Later on, a remix track of the song "Twilight" was released under the name "Twilight RX."
