Biography
Sioto Jazz are a Macedonian pop rock indie jazz metal supergroup from Bitola formed in 2022 as a spiritual successor to several local acts.
Their influences draw from a wide range of artists, from the wildest years of Herbie Hancock and Nick Cave through the Smashing Pumpkins and The National to Man I Trust, Grimes and Spasen Siljanoski.
The themes that run through the songs of their first album are drawn from the immediate environment: the extinction of small places, the loss of their own identity of those who chose to stay and the way a red-blooded individual can deal with it all. To create something where there is nothing. To preserve what he identifies with and dig out of himself respect for those who decide otherwise.
The irony of the loss of identity is amplified by the songs' use of English, which the people the music is aimed at certainly understand.
