Formed in Tampa 1995 for a high-school bands showcase…members Phil Ruperto-dr, Davie Evanich-guit, Matt Sammons-bas, Callie Lawson-vox, and Deidre Meadows-tbone…. eventually gained Brian Aulisio-tpet, Lacy Millis-tensax, Cres Rodriguez-alto, Bob Wagner-keys, Sandi Streppone-keys (after Bob's departure)…..
….SHB performed at Gaither High School Battle of the bands two years in a row, '95 & '96, and won in '96….
…were very popular at the school decided to try their hands in the local scene….their first paying gig was opening for Skankin' Pickle at the Stone Lounge in Tampa….around this time, the ska scene in Tampa was expanding with Magadog at the lead….Skahumbug played around 2 gigs a month, sometimes with touring acts, other times at local ska shows….Bob Wagner left the band around the end of 1996 to start another band, The Rugcutters….
Recorded an Album in 1997 called "Forbidden Doughnut"…the name was a tribute to The Simpsons…..subsequently recorded a few more tracks for local music comps, "Robbie COleman" for the Girls Go Ska album, "Cloven Metal" for Shanachie's Women of Ska, and "Skinhead Jean Sale" for Citrus Records Florida Comp "Closer Than You 2, FLorida Ska"
Local Florida bands that Skahumbug has gigged with include: Pork PIe Tribe, Magadog, Rugcutters, Hopscotch, Baccone Dolce, Usuals, Jive Step Bunch, Double Deckers, Majik Dirt, Blue City Kings, King 7 & SOulsonics (remnants of Jive Step), & others.
national acts they played with include: Scofflaws, Skankin Pickle, Regatta 69, Mustard Plug, Pietasters, Dancehall Crashers, Less than Jake, & others.
While playing with the band Davie Evanich, Matt Sammons, and Brian Aulisio formed a hardcore band, "Hos for the Proletariate"….they played one song inbetween sets at Joe Mocha's in St. Petersburg….
