    • Mark Boon

Smyle was a Dutch rock band from The Hague, The Netherlands. They released five singles between 1972 and 1974 and had Bas Muijs as their frontman.

Muijs' singing voice sounded uncannily like John Lennon's, which was reason enough for Smyle to try and copy The Beatles' sound as perfectly as they could. They did an astonishingly good job. Their most successful single, the George Kooymans-penned 'It's Gonna Be Alright', made the Dutch Top 10.

Guitarist Mark Boon said in an interview: "'It's Gonna Be Alright' came out in a plain white sleeve with just our logo on it. That was done on purpose, as Polydor wanted to keep things mysterious, hoping people would suspect it was a Beatles bootleg."
