Biography

Soane Filitonga, born in the village of Vava'u in Tonga, was a pioneering New Zealand DJ and producer who began his career as a doorman at the Auckland Roma and Box/Cause Celebre nightclubs in the the late 1980s and early 1990s. He began begun DJing at various parties around Auckland in 1989 and by 1994 had a regular Sunday residency at Cause Celebre. Soane released a DJ mix album 'In Music' in 2002 and followed this two years later with a full length album, 'Tongan Chic.' Co-produced by Luke Tomes and Dick Johnson, the album included vocals from Anthony Gold (Anthony Ioasa) on the single ‘Where Do We Go?’ along with other contributions from Boh Runga, Tha Feelstyle and Sisters Underground's Hassanah Iroegbu.

Soane passed away on 9th November 2014, aged 43
