And finally, a few years later, this album clicks with me. I absolutely hated it the first time I heard it. In fact, I still hate "Shitload of Money" if I'm being honest - it gets my vote for worst Sonata Arctica song of all time. However, I've grown to like the rest, especially "The Day".

Same here bro, still listening, but it is not as bad when you approach it with an open mind, I guess we have been used to a format Sonata abused over the years and got we used to it... This sounds similar to Unia, which I took a liking lately as well. The problem with this album is that it sounds generic at times, the toneless chugging sometimes makes you feel like as if it lacks some direction, but it's an enjoyable album after all. Also, Shitload is terrible, it's the epithome of the generic and poor taste sound I was mentioning...

The instrumental part at 2:40 in Somewhere Close To You sums up the lack of direction and generic sound I was mentioning, it's a out of purpose brainless chugging and some dumb effect on the keyboard, I dare to say a Nu Metal/Alternative feel to it, that doesn't sound like the virtuous Sonata of old times and it causes this strangeness feeling I mentioned to old fans...

They played several songs off this album last night and they were all great live, really went over well with the crowd as well. Cracking stuff.

This has grown so much on me. Very good album indeed. Losing My Insanity and Alone in Heaven are my faves.

It's definitely the best Tony's written since Unia, I tend to enjoy the second half of the album more than the first. The Day, Cinderblox and the two Wildfire saga songs are the standout tracks for me. I don't think anyone was expecting the banjo metal. Look forward to seeing them live again!

Alone in heaven bridge "i can't see you here..." sounds a bit like like "and I think that I told you.." in Letter To Dana, "if only dreams were real" (Loosing My Insanity-Pre-Chorus-Thing) is very similar to a part in Black And White ("Idle moments spawned you idle people, no morality, no soul.") and the first verse of "The Day" reminds me of the first verse of "As If The World Wasn't Ending" --- but: I find this rather interesting than bad. I hope I get used to the "new rock guitar sound" that differs much from the last two albums. But those were growing albums too and now I love them all - thus I hope the best for SGHN.

It's an amazing album. It just might take some time to get used to this new sound, just like people have grown to love Unia and the Days of Grays over the years too. As for me, it was love at first sight, all the tracks are great to me.
