Biography
SONGS OF THE EXILE (or S.O.T.E.) is a Dutch power trio founded in 1993. They describe their music as progressive/symphonic rock, with diverse influences ranging from RUSH, DREAM THEATE and YES all the way to ZAPPA, HOLDSWORTH, WAGNER, BOZZIO, MAHLER, VAI and MONK. Their sound covers a territory spanning Neo Prog, Heavy Prog and Prog Metal.
The line-up as of 2008 consists of Gerton LEIJDEKKER (guitars and vocals) Peter H. BOER (bass and backing vocals) and Emile BOELLAARD (Drums and backing vocals), the latter replacing original drummer Menno DE VRIES.
Information on this band is scarce, but despite their low profile they have been releasing new material on a regular basis, starting in 1995 with "And About Time" and continuing through the 2000's with "Time Re-Arranged" (2000), "Time to End" (2003) and "Reasons" (2008).
Menno DE VRIES is back to replace Emile BOELLARD on drums. The band is working on a new album, a rock opera with many vocalists, a choir and orchestra.
