Sonia Angelica de Carvalho Rosa (born October 17, 1949 in São Paulo, Brazil), best known as Sonia Rosa, is a mysteryous soothing voiced Brazilian bossa nova singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist who debuted in 1967 in Brazil and moved to Japan around 1968/1969, focusing the rest of her career there and working with many famous Japanese musicians.

Born in a wealthy family, she began to play the guitar at the age of six and refined her musicality by learning João Gilberto songs, eventually breaking out as a bossa nova singer as a teenager.

After her official debut "A Bossa Rosa de Sonia" (1967) and contacting Lisa Ono's father, who ran a club in São Paulo, she moved to Japan, making her Japanese debut in 1970 with the album "Sensitive Sound of Sonia Rosa" (or "Golden Bossa Nova"), being produced by saxophone player Sadao Watanabe. She sung in live performances with him. Rosa soon met Yuji Ohno, who was playing the piano on a day when Watanabe couldn't appear. He led her into TV themes and commercial music work, and released seminal album "Spiced With Brazil" (1974). Later in that decade, she released the album "Samba Amour" (1979), more recognized in the past few years through YouTube remixes of the songs on it, turning the album her most famous body of work.

Since the latter half of the 1980s, she has been devoted to raising her children, only making songs for the soundtracks for the anime televion series "Lupin III Part III" and for the movie "Lupin III: The Columbus Files", but in response to the growing re-evaluation of her music, she released a new album called "Depois do Nosso Tempo" (2006), produced by Miko DJ Taro.
