Biography
Drawing on a diverse set of influences, from the lush orchestrations of Ennio Morricone and Roy Budd, to the production styles of the Bomb Squad and King Tubby, Speaking Tongues, a London-based duo comprising, Andrew Kremer and Benedict Green, have combined to produce an album that moves both the heart and mind. Featured are Lorna Brown’s soulful and sensual vocals, which have adorned the recordings and performances of stars as diverse as Martha Reeves, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Terry Callier and Eric Clapton. Her voice transcends the musical boundaries between jazz, soul, pop, reggae and folk. Andy and Ben first met at school and have been conspiring to produce fine music ever since. Andy, started life as a bass player, working with artists such as Incognito, Shirley Bassey and Jessica Lauren. He swiftly moved into the studio world, getting signed with his group Zohar, and writing and producing with such luminaries as Narada Michael Walden, Claude Challe and Terry Callier. Ben got into the music business through his love of percussion, sampling and vinyl. He first worked with Smoke City, co-producing ‘Underwater Love’, and has since been releasing tracks under his various pseudonyms: Brown Man Green Man, Flywheel and Mr. Ben.
