Spike Flynn is a singer/songwriter who grew up in the Central West town of Forbes, New South Wales, Australia. This first album has been a long time coming: His life has been such that 'till recently it hasn't been possible to get his songs down on vinyl or CD.
A writer (and performing at times) since his teenage years he is now older, wiser and more settled and can look back on a sometimes challenging life where the highs where high and the lows very low.
He has a rare gift for story telling in his songs and every word of poetry comes from his own experiences, whether from pain or triumph. The songs have a wonderful balance of dark and light - a photographic quality - so that an acceptance of life with its beauty and sorrows and spirituality shines through and raises them to a level beyond the ordinary. These songs are for listening to and will be listened to again and again because they are songs of the mature heart , the heart that has been through the dark night and emerged on the other side with a story to tell.
This CD is just a taste: there is much more to come. Spike's roots are in country and traditional blues music and his songs reflect this, while his lyrics come from his own uniquely poetic and empathetic creativity.
