Biography
Starr Chen is a Taiwanese music producer, singer, songwriter, and composer. In 2009, Starr C. first stepped into the music scene as an aspiring rapper, performing alongside hip-hop sensations Dwagie, Soft Lipa, MC HotDog, and MJ116. He eventually went on to form his own rap group - Young Souljaz. Music releases from Young Souljaz became widely popular amongst the youth in Taiwan for their light-hearted sound and witty lyrics.
Starr C.'s involvement in popular music began in 2010, when he joined EGGO - a well-known music production company located in Taiwan. He served as producer and arranger for One Two Free's hit song "3D Wu Li Quan Shi." Since then, he's helped create numerous singles for pop stars aMEI("Booty Call"), Jeannie Hsieh ("Sister"), Show Lo ("No Limit"), and many more.
In 2014, his work caught the attention of Taiwanese megastar Jolin Tsai, when he took part in the musical arrangement of Jolin's 25th Golden Melody Awards stage performance. He continued to work extensively with Jolin, helping to write and produce 4 songs on her critically acclaimed and best-selling album, "Play." The lead single, by the same name, earned Starr C. two Golden Melody Award nominations for "Best Music Arranger" and "Best Single Producer."
