Biography
Stone Fox was a female fronted hard rock band formed in the early 90's and created as a creative stage vehicle for glam trollop Jorjee Douglas. They ran through several lineups, seemingly had more image than chops, but kept at it, building up a sizable club draw in their hometown of San Francisco.
Jorjee's unyielding scenester sensibility however lead to valuable relationships with rock icons like Exene Cervenka of X and Kirk Hammett of Metallica and garnered slots opening for Cherie Curry, Metallica and Tammy Wynette… all on different nights, of course. In 1996, Jorjee parlayed her ambition into a record deal with her former opening act Linda Perry's new personal Rockstar label imprint, formed after the multi-platinum 4 Non Blondes flamed out.
According to their MySpace page: "After 3 tours of The States, in 1998 the band decided to unplug the guitars and toss the maracas aside. STONE FOX never said "good bye". STONE FOX merely said "manana".
Bassist Janice Tanaka, formerly with SF bar rock band The Jackson Saints eventually went on to join L7's final lineup and later joined Pink's touring band.
