“A Running Start” is the third single from Javelin, Sufjan Stevens' ninth solo album.
According to a press release made by Asthmatic Kitty Records, Sufjan defines “A Running Start” as a song about “the exhilarating power of first loves and first kisses, and finding safety and serenity in the sublime beauty of nature”.
