Biography
There are two different artists found when looking up Sun Brother.
1) Has a song called Magic Flute
2) Sun Brother is the pseudonym of musician Christian Lyon. Sun Brother first released music to the public July 22, 2011 with the single "RE: Blood", with a followup EP, The Young Man EP released later that year on his bandcamp. Much like Young Man or Iron & Wine, Sun Brother is the name used by Lyon to release music written entirely by himself. Recordings and Live performances feature other musicians from the Naperville, Wheaton and Peoria areas.
Sun Brother was initially a side-project led by Lyon to form a group of song-writing musicians from the Naperville area. The concept behind the group was to workshop each other's songs into something the writers themselves wouldn't have thought of.
The group informally disbanded when their senior years began, however, due to a focus shift to either college auditions or applications. After multiple failed attempts at reinventing the group through the year, it was understood by the summer before they all left for college that it probably wouldn't resurface the way it was intended, and the musicians returned attention to their primary groups.
The group's failure never settled with Lyon, however, and after consulting the other members, began releasing music under that name. Music written in the earlier years of High School Christian Lyon was predominantly acoustic, and although he added other light instrumentation such as bells or clean electric guitar, he wanted to experiment; staying true to the early nature of Sun Brother.
Lyon draws inspiration from many genres like folk, dream pop, indie rock and folk rock. Although the initial group has disbanded, Sun Brother's purpose is being fulfilled in workshopping and experimenting towards a distinct sound.
