Biography

There are two groups named Sunfighter. 1. A seventies rock band 2. A new group from Alameda, CA led by former Flash Gilmore & the Funbeatles members.

1. Pop rock band signed to EMI from 1975-1978, featuring writers Rob Boughton and John Hardman on guitar and vocals, with Jeb Milne and Rikki Peebles on vocals and later Melvyn Smith. John and Rob penned a number of songs for the band, some unreleased. Their first single 'Drag Race Queen' was also featured on TOTP on July 15th 1976, their second single 'Such A Lovely Night' also on Mike Mansfield's 'Supersonic', their third single 'Cafe A-Go-Go' has become somewhat of a club classic and was released in 1977. There are a number of versions of this song in circulation - and doubtless will be more. 'Drag Race Queen' was produced by Queen's Roy Thomas Baker (who produced their iconic first albums including 'Bohemian Rhapsody'), the remaining singles were produced by Chris Rainbow (who as well as being a solo artist in his own right) sang on a number of Alan Parsons Project songs. There was also a fourth song, City Nights.
