Biography
Susannah Melvoin (born January 26, 1964) is an American vocalist, songwriter and actress, perhaps best known for her association with Prince in the mid-1980s. Coming from a musical family, Melvoin is the twin sister of musician Wendy Melvoin, sister to the late Jonathan Melvoin, at the time one time touring with the The Smashing Pumpkins, and daughter of jazz pianist (and former NARAS president) Michael Melvoin.
She was a member of the Prince project The Family for whom he wrote the song Nothing Compares 2 U in 1985 reportedly about Melvoin. The song became a hit when Sinéad O'Connor covered it in 1990, Nothing Compares 2 U
