Biography
SweetHaven was founded in late 2001 by songwriter Matt Mattson and guitarist Gentry Lee. Since then, there have been many lineups. Matt and Gentry are the only original band members. But their partnership accounts for all of the songwriting and arranging.
SweetHaven gained notoriety among Utahans after their songs began appearing in Mormon-based films that are so popular among the Mormon culture. The song "Go Back" has made them local icons.
Because of their association with Mormon cinema, most people believe SweetHaven is a "Christian Rock" band. This has never been the case. Their sound (which has been made harder and edgier for their upcoming sophomore release) is simply their sound and not their religion. In fact, both Matt and Gentry are atheists and detest being associated with any organized religion.
SweetHaven is currently recording their sophomore album. They have no plans to return to performing.
