Oh man, this album made me so happy sometime in 2009. 800+ scrobbles, most in the span of a couple of weeks. Even learned something that could be called Terrapin on guitar.

Way, _way_ ahead of its time. Doesn't sound at all like an early 70s album. These well crafted songs are 'sabotaged' by the demons Syd is wrestling with. The result is one of the most unique albums in history, and one which rewards the listener with new discoveries upon repeated listening.

Polish and more overdubs and instruments would have destroyed all brilliance of this album beyond any hope of redemption.

@restinagony: David Gilmour misheard a lyric in Octopus as "the madcap laughs" instead of "the mad cat laughs".

I recently watched a documentary about Syd Barrett, David Gilmour said that on one track the guitar is recorded backwards. Does anyone know which song that is?

What does it mean by The Madcap Laughs? Does it describe the laughs and that they are madcap? Does it describe the action of a madcap laughing? Or is there a cap that is mad that laughs or even the laughs that are laughed by a mad cap? Whatever the title means, this is his best album (With eskimo chains I tattooed my brain).
